I purchased this refrigerator in 2022 and paid full price for it. It has already needed two repairs, and right now it is sitting broken again. Good thing I purchased a service plan for this poorly designed refrigerator, because it seems to need a major repair every year. The ice box constantly drops ice all over the freezer, making a huge mess because it was poorly designed. What a terrible design. I am shocked they are still selling this to people. My old foreign-made refrigerator is still in my garage, humming along after 12 years without a single repair, so I know refrigerators can be made better. Do not buy this refrigerator!! Stay away from GE appliances I know I will.

So far, so good. We wanted a 48™ built-in fridge to replace our 24-year-old GE Monogram. Looked for one with size and reliability being most important. Did not want bells & whistles, so this one was as close as we could get. Wish we could have purchased it without the huge ice maker that we very rarely use and without internet connectivity. Shelves are a tiny bit less deep than the last refrigerator, but it™™s not too much of a problem. It™™s working, keeps the food safe, and is very attractive. Overall, for the month we™™ve had it, we are very pleased.

I would give this refrigerator a zero if I could. I inherited this piece of crap when I bought my last house.The depth is horrible, and I can't get a real casserole dish to fit except longwise. I have always had a can holder that was able to hold 12 cans but it won't hold the wonderful space saver because of the ridiculous lack of depth. The door doesn't seem to have th e feature to close completely so I have lost several products such as cream way before the expiration date. I am trying to find a sucker to get this off of my hands so i can buy a real refrigerator. I have moved numerous times and had goumet kitchens but this crap needs to be dumped on the street.

Ice maker design is terrible!

We just had the refrigerator (model CSB48WP2NS1) installed last week. It seems to be working well except that I cannot believe the poor design of the ice maker. The maker/bucket are mounted at the top inside of the freezer and the only way to get cubes out is to reach up and into a small, cheap, plastic cover and blindly remove cubes. Completely unacceptable design. It is also discouraging to read reviews that are 2 plus years old highlighting this flaw. GE would be better off not offering an ice maker without a dispenser until it redesigns this flaw.

I wish there would have been reviews when I was fridge shopping. I hate this fridge. The produce drawers get too cold, the underside of the drawers are sharp and have drawn blood on multiple occasions, the fan runs all the time, the ice makers is terribly designed.

GE CafÃ48 was installed at my home in 8/2022, and it started to not cool enough in 11/2024 where food in the freezer melts and in the fridge spoils. I've had to go through the maze of automated website that goes in circles because it was past 1 yr period, and finally got a hold of a real person at GE service on 11/27/2024. I went through Thanksgiving and Christmas with faulty freezer/fridge, and the problem continues as of today 7/5/2025, over 6 months! In the meantime, I had SEVEN visits by service crew, who's done numerous things to bring it back, but so far has been temporary fix, and it goes back to not cooling enough in a matter of weeks. At this point, the service crew comes periodically to add the coolant that brings it back for a few weeks, then dies back down. Let me be very clear: THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING WITH A $10K+ HIGH END BRAND!! If GE Cafe is serious about competing in this segment at this price point for customers, they should contact customers to provide a permanent fix, not temporary patchwork. My previous Subzero that I owned for 15yrs+, I only had to call service just once during those years, in Year8, and they fixed it permanently in 1 visit. The fact that GE Cafe keeps on doing temporary patchwork suggests to me that they either can't fix it permanently, or they don't think that my fridge is a one-off bad lemon so not sending me a new good one for replacement. GE Cafe is slowly killing it's brand by letting go of customers like me, one customer at a time. It's so sad that my recent worry when I go to bed is about finding out that my food had melted/spoiled the next morning. It shouldn't be this way. GE Cafe, please fix it!!

We™™ve owned the refrigerator for less than three years; we™™re on our 3rd evaporator fan, located behind the icemaker. We have to reach in and free up the ice on it every 3-4 weeks, otherwise the temperature in both the fridge and freezer begin to escalate. We™™ve had three occurrences wherein we™™ve had to toss food. It™™s an expensive cooler and is effectively a stainless yeti with interior lights. Would not buy again and why pay for a company tech to come out to fix what is a known issue all over Reddit and other sites. Find another brand™¦

This is the worst piece of junk I have ever had the misfortune to buy. It™™s not if, but when the condenser fan will malfunction. We have had to replace the fan 4 times in 2 years, and it still continues to freeze over which prevents the circulation needed to keep the freezer and fridge at their required temperatures. Countless amounts of food have been lost in the process. GE have not offered any real assistance in dealing with the problem because the issues started to happen after the first year and is now outside the warranty window. The repair bills are now running into the thousands of dollars. I encourage you avoid this piece of junk and buy anything else if you want to have a fridge freezer which is going to last you longer than a year. GE, you need to pull this product from your lineup now and fix the problems immediately so other families don™™t have to go through the stress and issues this substandard product will continue to create. ive had this refrigerator for 4 months and ive already had to have service and parts replaced. I myself would not have even gotten this refrigerator but we bought a home that had a built in cabinet that was made to fit only this refrigerator. It doesn't hold enough either in my opinion and does not have a water dispenser, which is a must in san diego. I do not recommend any ge cafe appliances,,, i have a oven too, and microwave and the stove already had a major problem,,

If I could give our cafe refrigerator zero stars I would. We installed this, and all cafe appliances, in our newly built home in July of 2021 and this refrigerator has been nothing but trouble for the entire three years. We™™ve had GE™™s ™service™ folks come to our home four or five times now (I™™ve lost count) and each time it has cost us considerable money. The noise that emanates from this appliance is ridiculously loud! It groans so loudly that the sound resonates throughout the house! They replaced the icemaker saying that would fix the problem. And it did™¦for about 35 days. Now it™™s groaning again, even louder than before. NEVER buy a GE refrigerator. There are much better quality products you could buy for over $10,000!

Horrible for the high price tag. We purchased several all new cafÃ appliances for our new home and this refrigerator has by far been the worst. It is loud and the icemaker spills everywhere. After owning it a year and a half it stopped cooling. After several phone calls to GE they finally sent a maintenance man and they replaced two parts (fan and condenser unit). Not a month later and it™™s making this horrible grinding sound and not cooling again. For the price I paid for this it should be better quality. Now I will have to wait on hold for hours to talk to a GE to try to get it fixed yet again.

Very expensive fridge. Multiple repairs starting from day one with issues. Refrigerator and freezer never seem to maintain target temp. Technicians replaced multiple parts including seal around door and mother board. It™™s now June of 2024 and I continue to lose money due to unsafe food in fridge. Horrible design. I™™ve had no issues with the unit running properly. It™™s the ice maker I can™™t stand. It™™s like it™™s an afterthought. First, like others have said, ice falls all over the inside of the freezer and spills onto your floor. Second, I think it™™s disgusting that to get ice you have to stick your hand in the bin. What is this, 1978??? I don™™t want my teenagers dirty hands all over the ice. And there isn™™t any room for an ice scoop or another tool to grab the ice with. The next issue is with the bottom drawer in the refrigerator. It™™s useless unless you™™re able to open the fridge door past 90 degrees. My fridge is between a cabinet and my kitchen wall, so I lose that storage space. I™™ve owned $1k refrigerators that had significantly better features and never gave me any issues. Heard this refrigerator was discontinued. Good. Just too bad for those of us stuck with it.

Beautiful Fridge - Maybe Huge Waste of Money

I never leave product reviews, and it pains me to have to do this now. We love how our fridge looks - but that is sadly where the love story ends. Less than a year into having the fridge it failed for the first time. A GE technician repaired it, and we thought that was that. It failed again a few months later. That time it took longer to fix because there were no parts available. The fridge held up about 6 months, and then it failed again. This prompted another few service visits. The situation never improved. Our fridge failed again multiple times late last year, including right around Thanksgiving. The service staff got it running again as usual. Then it failed again in January. It was fixed and is now not functional again, despite it only being two weeks later. The story is generally the same. First the fan starts wailing constantly. Then the temperature in the refrigerator section starts to rise until it completely fails. Around that time the same begins to happen to the freezer until both die. We can handle an isolated occurrence. But 3 service visits in three months for clearly related issues is not isolated, but rather confirmation of a deeper issue. That said, the service team has always been nice, professional, courteous and committed to help. That has been a small silver lining in a terrible situation. We do not know what to do at this point, which is deeply frustrating.

Poor GE quality and Customer Service!

This fridge came when we purchased the house. On the first year I had ice maker issue and then the fan started making noise on the second year. The technician has came several times and lastly they replaced the gasket for both doors 1 week ago which did not solved the problem. Now the technician said it is not reparable because the fridge frame is not level and gasket cannot seal completely. I called again GE and offered me a $4,700 replacement. It is very disappointing because is very clear it is a manufacture defect. I was told by their manager it happen in the installation. There is no way the installer could have bended the frame in the upper part close to the motor (see picture). Stay away from GE and their products! Pay couple thousand more and get a Subzero!

I cannot even begin to describe the misery this ten thousand dollar fridge freezer will bring you. It is covered for a whopping 1 year warranty, by one of the worlds largest companies, who have that little faith in their own product working as intended. It will break frequently. Service calls will take 2 weeks to have someone visit you because everyone in your neighborhood with these ghastly appliances are also trying to get them repaired. Standard parts that need to be replaced are on backorder and your scheduled service appointment will then be cancelled because the parts aren't in yet. When you call to find out when the parts will be delivered, you'll have had a warm cabinet storing your food over Thanksgiving because the fridge is completely busted and then they'll make you wait on hold for 2 hours just to speak to someone who really doesn't give a darn about helping you or making this right. Eventually - whether it's this repair, the third, fifth, or tenth time repairing this miserable overpriced equipment, you'll realize that you have wasted ten thousand dollars and go purchase something far better from a far more reputable company who actually stands by their product quality and cares about their customers. In the meantime you'll be where I am, somewhere in the midst of a death spiral with this company and the awful, warm, product you have sitting in your kitchen that serves none of its intended purposes for months on end.

Ice maker issue

purchased this Cafe fridge with our new build. Stopped making ice after 2 months of use, called home builder to have the appliance company for repair and replaced ice maker, GE came and replaced ice maker,left, said to wait 24 to 48 hours. Still didn't work -replaced 2nd ice maker, its making very little to no ice, told to check water line, and its has pressure and water feeding to fridge. Still not working. -GE came again for 3rd time, replaced the ice maker, it will make ice sometimes, but it makes a growling noise periodically. -still working with builder and GE to find a replacement unit. -will not buy again CSB48WP2RS1 no longer in production

Much like everyone else, this stopped working after 2 years of owning it -- conveniently outside of the warranty. I've had to throw away food and paid to have the service rep come out several times -- he has been great and did all he could. Unfortunately it is clearly a poorly made piece of equipment. GE has offered me a discount to buy another one. Sure a nice gesture, but I'm pretty sure the replacement will die in 2 years, where they will offer me the opportunity to buy yet another one -- great deal, thanks GE. They should replace it, plain and simple. MAYBE then they would get another star for having top quality customer service, which they don't have

Our fridge has been making odd noises for months. It finally will not cool/stay cold. We are outside of the GE Warranty and have had the extended warranty (through the company they recommended!) and nothing is happening. We need an entirely new compressor (and this compressor is the same one you get in a $400 apartment fridge - which is really upsetting considering what this unit costs). Compressors are on backorder for at least a month, so we are supposed to be without a fridge for about two months this summer - at least. After reading the reviews, I see that I'm not alone in this problem. A $10k fridge should last longer than 27 months. We picked GE Cafe appliances thinking they were quality products, but clearly we were wrong. GE will not come out and repair it, unless we pay for it out of pocket, which voids our extended warranty. GE acts like its hands are tied, when they are the ones who sold this product to me! We bought through GE - not another dealer - and this was clearly a mistake. I am floored at their complete lack of care for the garbage quality of their products. It is a massive frustration and I am so disappointed in this company for not backing its products, especially the higher end ones.

After 2 months this unit was installed, the unit started making a loud noise. So loud it can be heard from outside. We had a tech come out several times but have not been able to get it fixed. We are out of warranty know and have been paying for a tech to come out. The last service the tech had the engineer Tag on call and he stated that its a known issue but they do not know how to fix it. That is something you do not want to here. Now I have to buy a new one to replace this unit that did not even last 2 1/2 years. GE will not even replace it knowing that its a design flaw. Dont make the same mistake I made, Don't buy this unit.

The refrigerator continuously fails. It started having issues after about a year, and we have become good friends with the technician from all his trips to our house (easily a dozen). He's tried everything. GE won't replace the fridge because it has now fallen beyond their warranty, even though the initial issues started while it was warrantied. We've wasted hundreds of dollars in spoiled food over the last year. With all the cheap refrigerators I've owned in my life, I never had one fail until I spent an obscene amount of money on this Cafe. "Disappointed" doesn't even begin to describe this experience. Anything less than a replacement at this point is completely unsatisfactory.

Looks beautiful, but it stopped working after 1 year. No cooling, no freezing, no good. Poor ice box design, ice cubes would fly all over the freezer compartment (when it used to work). It came with the wrong label and I couldn™™t connect it to the app. Useless.

Ice maker is designed to make it easy to accidentally push cubes out the back, spilling into the freezer and/or onto the floor. A problem when you have wood floors. Also the door groans on the hinges when oped/closed. No lubricant including silicon stops it. Top shelf on door is so close to top of door it™™s useless.

It took almost 4 months from purchase to delivery and $10,000. And this is what we got: out of the box we found a bump on the refrigerator door, a top door that does not fully close, two jammed screws half way in the holes, a bent freezer rack wire and 6 mysterious holes filled with caulk (the caulk is now shrinking) on both of the refrigerator side walls. Note that only 6 photos are allowed on the review.

I have a couple of issues with this "high end" refrigerator. First off, the ice maker inside the freezer is poorly designed. The ice overflows into the rest of the freezer and I'm forever having to go shelf by shelf and pick up ice cubes. The reservoir should be made in such a way as to contain the ice so it can be scooped without cubes flying all over the inside of the freezer. Second, another poor design, is the refrigerator door. When open, you have to open the door as far as possible in order for the bottom drawer to be operational. As such, it has left a black mark on the baseboard right outside the fridge. Very annoying and inconvenient when trying to get something quickly.

The icemaker has constantly underperformed by not producing a significant amount of ice for an expensive appliance. Now, it has completely stopped producing. Now, we are at 14 months (2 months after warranty lapsed) of ownership and to fix it is $119 plus parts and labor. The door and access to the ice is not conducive for a short person. Really a poor design on the access. I reset the appliance by shutting off power at breaker hoping a reset might help. Held the +- button to make sure Ice was ON.
