Still getting used to a lot of different things. I miss my deli drawer, only has 2 veggie bins. I'm used to having the freezer on the bottom, so things are so low to the floor. Just shelves in freezer, no partitions or bins. I guess just takes getting used to the difference.

The cooling is great and easy to use. The dispenser is awesome and can fill large water bottles. It appears to be an efficient model, however, it would have been great if it was an energy star refrigerator. The icemaking is great and allows crushed and large ice cubes, however, it does get used a lot and needs time to fill back up. The organization is great. I wish there was more storage. The only issue is the wheels made the length longer and required us to fix the cupboards to allow for the fit.

Great appearance simple look. Quiet operation. Ice maker not making ice yet. I was told it takes a couple of days to get it going. Waiting to see that happen. The size is quite large for doorways. The installers had to remove doors and trim to get it inside the house. Measure twice! Overall, great, so far so good.

Love the refrigerator, icemaker works well and is very efficient, large dispenser area. A bit noisy when making ice but it works well. Replaced a more expensive LG and so happy that I did. Refrigerator section keeps cooler far better than the LG. Deli and produce bins are far larger than my previous refrigerator and makes it easier to organize items.

The size is Great. The shell is pretty durable and truly finger print resistant. the ice maker is better than most but when i select cube i want cubes not partially crushed. The dispenser is perfect in the center of your glass and has high pressure water coming out. It is very silent except when it dumps ice in the dispenser. Its loud when it refills the ice tray but that for about 5 seconds so who cares. I really like this fridge and would recommend it. MY PROBLEM With me the problem was the 1st one delivered didn't quite cool right. I called customer service and they advised me THERE IS NO GE TECH IN MY AREA OF SUMRALL MISSISSIPPI. Customer service said they had to find someone to service my unit locally. As time passed waiting for them to find a repairman the temperature was dropping daily until icecream was soup and meat was thawed out and had to be tossed and some given away. I told them about that and they offered my a $100.00 VISA card. The problem is that in the end i lost $400 to $500. i reached out and customer service said thats all GE will compensate. PRETTY MUCH, HERES A HUNDRED DOLLARS TO BAD ABOUT THE REST. TO BAD YOU GOT A BAD FRIDGE TO BAD WE DONT HAVE GE TECHS IN YOUR AREA AND TO BAD IT TOOK 25 DAYS TO FINALLY GET ANOTHER ONE DELIVERED. Now the replacement is everything anyone would want. It keeps the temperature perfect. This one is calibrated perfect you set the fridge to 35 and that what it is +/- 2 degrees. The freezer is the same. I did use a high quality thermometer from my work. I AM NOT HAPPY WITH MY LOSSES GE!!! SHOULD STEP UP. UNTIL NOW I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT COMPENSATION FROM GE. SO WHEN YOU BY FROM GE YOUR ROLLING THE DICE!!!!!

terrible warranty service / dispenser failure

7/26/26 UPDATE: The warranty service provider that GE uses is awful: 1. It's not clear if the provider is Bodewell or US in Home Services. Both entities have contacted me with different schedules/times, neither communicates well, and 1 day of my time has been wasted waiting on someone to show up. 2. The service company cancelled our request. I called to re-open it, and have been given 3 different schedules for the repair and it's unclear which one I should expect. How does this happen? 3. The GE rep handling my case stopped responding and has not been successfuly in clearing this up. 4. Now our ice maker will not dispense ice and something is blocking its removal. Looks like we get to start over with the service request. I hope that someone from GE, Bodewell, or US in Home Services Less than 1 month old and the water/ice dispenser stops working! Hopefully we get a solid response from GE. =o(

Before purchasing this refrigerator, I read the reviews & should have listened more carefully to the comments. I agree that the right refrigerator door swings all the way open creating an issue. It should have a stopping point mid way. Also the ice maker is VERY loud and when you try and obtain cubes all you get is crushed ice. But as of yesterday nothing is coming out at all. I can hear it grinding within the cubes but nothing is coming out. And also there is a constant drip down the front of the ice maker. I am thinking that the cubes have frozen together to a point of one block and as it's trying to grind them it's creating shaved ice and that's getting lodged in the chute creating the drip. I'm trying to figure out how to remove the ice cubes from the door to see if that's the case. But can't figure out how to do that. I looked in the manual but there's nothing listed about removing the ice cube bucket so I can remove the larger pieces of ice. Also as commented within the reviews, I do not like that there isn't a cup (so to speak) to catch the water drips under the chute. Instead it drips down the front of the freezer door. I placed a napkin under the ice maker chute and it is constantly wet. These issues are the reason for the one star review. P.S. It would be nice if Lowe's sent a crew to deliver the refrigerator that speaks English. It was extremely difficult to correspond with the 3 men that were sent.

Fluctuating temperatures on new fridge

On 6/16/26 I purchased a GE 27.7 cu ft refrigerator, Model GSS28NYYFS. The temperatures are set at 37 degrees for the refrigerator and 0 degrees for the freezer. I noticed during the first week that items inside the refrigerator were not as cold as they had been in my old refrigerator. I ordered digital refrigerator/freezer thermometers so that I could check the temperatures inside. After a week of checking the thermometers, always at least an hour after opening the doors (sometimes overnight), I discovered that the temperatures were continuously fluctuating. The refrigerator has registered in the 40™™s, and the freezer has registered 24 degrees. Many times the freezer registered -10 degrees and below. I called for repair. When the repair technician arrived on 7/1/26, he used a device to check prior temperature readings and said he did not like how warm the refrigerator was getting nor how cold the freezer had been getting. He checked some things and said he was going to order a new damper and circuit board. Later that day I received a text stating that the repair parts had been ordered and would be installed on 7/16/26. On 7/6/26 I received a text that said part(s) needed to complete my repair were on backorder and I would be notified when the parts are available. As of today™™s date, 7/12/26, I am still waiting to be notified. The USDA says that food is considered in the ™Danger Zone™ when it is kept between 40 to 140 degrees F. I am a senior citizen that is now playing Russian Roulette with food borne illnesses while I wait for repair of my brand-new refrigerator. I don™™t understand why GE has these parts to manufacture new refrigerators for sale, but has no repair parts to fix refrigerators that have already been sold. It's pretty, though.

Stylish and functional

Perfect size for my family! Very easy installation, no trouble at all with putting together the shelves or hooking up the water line. The delivery guys had to take off the doors to get it inside but once inside we had no trouble moving it to the kitchen. I love the turbo cool and turbo freeze functions because we are having a very hot summer here in Ohio! This unit is extremely quiet, no noise at all except when I dispense the ice and water. The lighting is very aesthetic and appealing. The shelves inside are very easy to clean. I really like the no-fingerprint feature on the handles with all my kids! The only issue we have after using it for a couple months is the ice dispenses kind of sloppily. I dont know if there is a way around that, maybe holding the cup higher. A minor inconvenience, as to overall this is a great fit for us.

So far its been five days having the GE refrigerator and we love it. Just for your information, after three days we noticed two dents on the front stainless steel freezer door. To see the dents you would need to be at the correct angle. So, we didn't see the dents upon delivery on June 24th, 2026. Poorly design ice maker

1.It's been 48 hours and the ice maker only has 12 cubes in the basket - UNACCEPTABLE. 2.The ice/water dispenser sprays out past the glass causing water on the floor around you thus creating a safety concern . 3.The water dispenser drips after you put water in a glass. There is no catch for this drippage thus creating a safety concern of water on the floor. 4.All temp controls are automated, you cannot change temperature.

This fridge is really good. I love all the shelves. They are adjustable and I can fit a lot of things on them. They came with a lot of bins for the door of the fridge. It doesn™™t have like a deli tray, but it does still have two drawers at the bottom that you can use for your fruits and veggies, but it is different to not have a dedicated space for my meat and cheese as well as there™™s no spot for eggs in the door. The icemaker is a little on the small side in the freezer. The freezer does have a lot of space though for holding your all of your frozen items. The icemaker being on the door means you have more space in the freezer for the shelves and there is one bottom drawer, although you do have less bins on the door this way, it only comes with two but I do not find I need any more than that. I have not found a cup that will not fit under the ice maker, which is really nice because with my old fridge I would have to tilt my cup and try and make it fit under there to get ice. Now I can just set any cup under with this one and fill it with ice. Also does not show every fingerprint which is a major plus. Thing is huge and holds temp well. Door alarm button is inside the fridge which is a cool feature and I like the turbo cool and freeze option, not that I think I will need them often. Now the negative part of my review, which has nothing to do with the GE fridge and everything to do with the company that delivered it. They refused to install it in my house. They left it in the middle of my garage. I was wanting to put the old fridge out in the garage anyway so I would have a second fridge for all of our beverages so it™™s not the end of the world, but I would™™ve at least expected them to assemble the fridge and do something for me, not drop it literally in the middle of my garage. So I had to install it in our garage as I could not get it into the house myself. Our garage is right off our kitchen though so it really still works for me. They refused due to my house being an old house with narrow halls and copper piping. They were angry they would have to disassemble the doors to get it into the fridge alcove and then used the copper pipes as their reason they could not install it. I was away on a work trip when they delivered (got 24 hr notice) so I had my mom there for the install which I think they took advantage of.

Cooling issues of not maintaining temperature. Door Seals were incorrectly placed. Ice maker issues only make 30 cubes a day. (Advertised as to 120 cubes a day. Air Tower Damper had to be replaced. Service time wait of over 1 month.

I have been using this refrigerator for about a month now, and so far it's been amazing! Even before this fridge, I appreciate FE brand as synonymous for quality and durability, and this model just confirmed that feeling. What I love most,other than the looks, is how spacious it is inside; every bit of space is designed to be used to its full potential. The freezer is super convenient, which makes organizing so easy and allows me to see exactly what I have on hand. In fact, my husband is thrilled because he says it can fit up to five turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. The design of the ice and water dispenser is both beautiful and practical. Also, you can tell the materials are high quality; in general it feels very sturdy and pleasant to the touch. Its very quiet. Finally, I want to highlight that the moving or assembly was very simple, a s well as the instructions for setting up the parts were very clear. Good Job GE.

Product and everything was great. Then 10 minutes after installlers left I notice that there was a slight scratch and dent about 3 inches right of the refrigerator door handle. It is ever so slight and I do not know if it was done at the factory or when they were bringing it in through the front door of our home. It is not that noticeable. Usually only when you look down and opening the refrigerator door. Had wife look at it and we have not problem with it. We do not need a replacement. However, other people probably wood. Just giving you a heads up because I don't know which time this occurred.

This side by side refrigerator is near perfect! The shelving is adjustable and easy to move for taller items. The storage is deep and can accommodate a lot of food! But even in the back food won™™t get lost because the lighting is bright and the shelving clear so I can see everything. After installation, which was professional and fast, the unit was at the correct cooling temperature in just 4 hours. Ice was ready in just 6! The drawers have a super soft glide that is smooth to open and close making that storage easy to use for fruits and veggies. The piÃ¨ce de rÃsistance is the water filling on the front- it fits my 40oz water bottle with ease and fills quickly due to amazing water pressure! The ice cubes are small and such a cute shape for cocktails and water bottles. The only reason this didn™™t get the full 5 stars is because I do wish it had a small lip to keep water from spilling over after overfilling cups and the ice feature is quite messy, spitting small shaves of ice even when set on the cubed setting. Such small complaints compared to the overall features that make this refrigerator a really solid choice.

I'm not sure why ge placed the water filter near the crisper drawers at the very bottom It's a horrible ideal if over weight or elderly. To get on my hands and knees is absolutely ridiculous! Love the product unitil the new product showing the filter almost to the floor of the frig. Redesign it and it will be number 1 again.

OMG! This refrigerator is huge! I love it. The amount of space is more than enough. The finish is a very high quality stainless steel! The front water/ice maker is extra tall and fits my 40oz. Cups perfectly. The inside freezer chute for the ice is removable and easy to clean. It's very quite as well. Inside the lights perfectly light up everything in it. The button for the light on the door is a perfect night light. The doors are not light and cheap like other models. They definitely are substantial and heavy duty. I don't know what I'm going to do with all this space. I love it!

I was gifted the 27.9 Cu. Ft. Side-By-Side Refrigerator with Extra Tall Dispenser and In-Door Icemaker by GE in exchange for my honest review. This refrigerator is impressive. The refrigeration side offers a huge amount of space within! It has four shelves that are spaced to allow for tall food and beverage items. The same can be said for the in-door shelves. There are two very large crisper drawers, too. The freezer side has five nicely spaced shelves and one extra deep drawer. The freezer door features two shelves and the ice maker. The dispenser is exactly how they advertised it™¦EXTRA tall. Seriously impressive, actually! The dispenser allows for water, crushed ice, and cubed ice. It™™s conveniently lighted, as well. One of my favorite features is the soft closing doors. These doors seem to pull themselves shut with just the slightest touch. I am actually blown away with how much food you could fit in this refrigerator, really! It™™s no bigger than my old refrigerator™¦but it™™s definitely designed more thoughtfully! Additionally, it looks great and runs super quietly. Keeps everything nice and cold! Honestly, I can™™t think of anything negative to say about this GE side-by-side fridge! I highly recommend, if you™™re looking for a new one!

I love my new GE Side-By-Side Refrigerator. It has a beautiful sleek design that makes my entire kitchen look upgraded. I never had a side-by-side refrigerator before and I was nervous to make the switch. Now that I have been using it, I prefer it. There is so much room and organization on both sides with adjustable shelves, large door bins and pull out drawers. No more digging through to find what I need. But, my favorite part is the extra tall, 11-inch water and ice dispenser. I can fit all my tall bottles without having to tip them to fill (which usually ended up with water everywhere ). Plus, it has two ice options, cubed or crushed which is always a bonus. It is the perfect refrigerator upgrade.

This refrigerator is absolutely perfect! We like to play meals and make sure we are set for the coming weeks with our kids on meals so having a refrigerator with plenty of space for groceries and leftovers or meal prep is a must! This refrigerator has so much space that we have extra room! The shelves are the perfect height and we can adjust as we go. The basket are big! Holding extra condiments and more when it comes to cooking. The freezer has so much space with the ice maker being in the door! The water and ice come out easily too! The GE 27.9cf side by side refrigerator with extra tall dispenser is a great upgrade! The good: There seems to be so much more actual usage area. Between the filter reposition and maybe thinner walls, the amount of space is incredible. The ice and water in the door instead of taking of the space of one full shelf is much better. The extra tall dispenser area eliminates the ™tilt and spill™ we all go through trying to get ice and water in our cups/bottles. The single long, soft touch dispenser bar is a great update from the individual push pedals of other units. The dispenser area is one continuous smooth surface, no removable bottom to knock off. The water and ice filter is relocated to the bottom of the refrigerator, freeing up the shelf it blocks in some models. It has a non-obstructive control panel with multi use buttons that makes it efficient and minimalist. Digital temp control is a much better option than control knobs where you have to remember if the higher number means colder or warmer. The two refrigerator drawers and one freezer drawer are deep and have a smooth glide. Even when full, they glide easily without a lot of effort. The fingerprint resistant doors live up to their name. It™™s very quiet, even when filling the ice trays. Potential issues: The doors when opening aren™™t zero clearance. For those with refrigerator built in areas where the front of the doors are supposed to be flush with the wall, this won™™t work. You will have to move it forward until the case is even with the walls and the rest are sticking out. See photo The doors are slightly convex and at the handle area its dimensions are larger. It™™s not noticeable when looking at it unless you really take the effort (or you are working in tight confines. This means you may need to remove the handles, if not the entire doors, to get it through doorways and between walls and counters. It comes with a short (2-3 ft) waterline. Unless you have the water hookup directly behind the refrigerator, you will need to purchase a longer line. They run between $12 and $30 depending on the size you will need.. The ice maker only makes 10 small square cubes at a time, and the bin isn™™t as large as the shelf version of makers. After dumping the first batch it has been running for 36 hours and we have about 1/4 of a bin full. This will be an issue if you use a large amount of ice daily or need to fill a cooler. All in all I love this refrigerator and even though I posted potential issues, none of them are actual problems that would deter most. I would recommend this u it over most others to my family and friends.

What an awesome fridge!!! Its a perfect replacement of our old one, which was also a GE and good quality, but the upgrades on this one make it great. The water dispenser has space for my water bottle, the shelves are deeper and the freezer has more space as well. Overall I am very impressed! I would say tho I miss the small cubby shelf with a swinging ™door™ on the upper right side where Id usually keep my butter, but thats okay I found a new spot for it.
